Baan Unrak

In January 2007 we had a fire that was caused by a burning candle. 4 of the mother's houses and a bathroom were burned down.
Nobody got hurt!
We need money to build them back up again.

On Wednesday, March 21st, we had 25 children from the international french school of Bangkok (LFIB) coming to visit us. We planted trees with them, they learned Karen dances, how to weave and many more things. We all enjoyed a great dinner together and performances after. The french children sang songs and ours performed different dances and Yoga.
We had the same happening with 25 other children from the same school on Wednesday, March 28th and April 4th.
It was wonderful to have them here and seeing the children playing and communicating together even though they don't speak the same language.

From March 27th until April 7th we had 17 students and 2 'teachers' from the Republic Polytech school from Singapore staying with us. They built two great sports fields, one for Netball and one for Soccer. They also thought our chidlren how to play Netball and practiced soccer with them. They did a lot of fundraising back home and brought the equipement with them.
It was so wonderful having them here and seeing how energetic and hard working the students were and the positiv influence they had on our children.
We really hope that they are able to come back one day soon!

On March 12th we had 110 bicycle riders from Thailand and Singapore coming to Baan Unrak. They organized a charity event.
We were very happy to have them here! We performed different dances, Yoga shows and played music for them while they were eating dinner.
It was a great event.

From April 13th until the 15th is Thai New Year, called Songkran, also called WATERFESTIVAL. People, specially young people, throw water at everyone and everywhere. They also add colored powder sometimes and put it on their faces. They drive around with big water tanks on the back of their cares and throw water at the people. If you happen to be in Thailand on these days, make sure to put your cell phone, camera, ... in a plastic bag! :o)
