Opportunities

Baan Unrak not only provides a safe, loving and healthy home for these destitute children, but we also offer education, medical, psychological and spiritual care in an atmosphere that fosters the cultivation of universal love for all beings through the guiding principals of Neo-Humanism. Working under this philosophy, children eat vegetarian food, meditate and perform yoga daily.  All of our actions are formed around the goal of creating a healthy human society that is able to meet the basic physical and emotional needs of all individuals.

Additionally, elder children are given an opportunity to study outside of the Sangkhlaburi community.  We have children pursuing both high school and university degrees in Chiang Mai, Bangkok and other parts of Thailand.

The children's activities

Our children meditate twice a day and they do yoga. Last year, a volunteer gymnast, choreographed the postures into various dance repertoires. The children performed the dance at several festivals, thrilling audiences in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The performances made the children reach out from Sangkhlaburi. It raises their self-esteem. Some children used to be so shy that they often hid from guests. But now they are more confident. We also encourage them to be involved in solidarity actions and to visit old people in our surrounding community. These various activities provide physical fitness, emotional balance and social consciousness of our children.
Most of our children speak English and are not camera shy. Watch some of our videos
