This child's name is Kon Suey She was tested HIV positive just as her brother was. He died when he was seven. Kon Suey, along with her mother and brother, tested positive for HIV when she was just a baby. Her father died from AIDS before she was born and her seven-year-old brother died when she was just a small infant. Faced with the enormous challenge of providing medical care for both herself and her daughter and living with the stigma of being a single mother with HIV, Kon Suey's mother sold her daughter for 500 baht and fled Sangkhlaburi. For the next few months, Kon Suey was sold from family to family, each of which could not or would not care for a child diagnosed with HIV.
