Care for the Ill
If you do not have insurance and no money to pay for medical care it is hard to survive here. People lack insurance because:

• they lack Thai Nationality
• they cannot demonstrate they have Thai Nationality
• they cannot complete the paperwork required to gain the insurance

Unfortunately, a lot of people fall in this gap. When they show up on our door, sometimes literally dying, it is difficult to say, "It is not part of our mission".

How we help the sick
We provide natural medicines which are prescribed by Dr. Mitra, a good friend of Baan Unrak and people in need everywhere. In some instances, natural medicine can't help them anymore and we must take them to the hospital.

We provide a caseworker to help with language skills, ease the patients worries and arrange transportation which is difficult if you lack Thai nationality.

It is a wonderful way to serve the community, but it is expensive. In some months, we have paid for two life saving surgeries. We absorb the entire cost of these treatments.
