Milestones/Timeline of Baan Unrak

1990:
            Land purchased in Sangkhlaburi
1991:
            First child comes to the home.  Her name is “Joy”
            Relief work begins with Burmese refugees
1992:
            BU welcomes its first baby
1993:
            First weaving teacher comes to BU, 20 women become involved in weaving
1995:
            First sewing machine is purchased and the sewing and weaving center project officially commences
1996:
            British Embassy provides funds to open a new weaving and sewing center
1997:
            Japanese Organization provides enough funds to build bigger home for the rapidly expanding number of children at BU.
1998:
            Relief project officially commences with cooking projects for refugees and prisoners.
1999:
            AusAid donates enough funds to start a kindergarten/nursery and natural medicine training
2000:
            New land is purchased to expand our existing property
2001:
            First yoga performances show in Bangkok
2002:
            10 children travel to Singapore and Malaysia to perform yoga show and fundraise
2003:
            Home school commences at the home
            Didi named “Volunteer of the Year” by Thai government
2005:
            Baan Unrak Primary School officially opens
            Began construction on our current home to provide for our increasing numbers
2006:
            Finish construction of new home and move in
2007:
            Long-term volunteer house is built onsite
            Farming project commences
            Annual youth camp begins
2008:
            First permanent volunteers arrive (apart of Didi)
            Animal sanctuary is founded
2009:
            Mothers/women’s houses are built
            Relief project expands to include medical aid
2010:
            Begin building the new teenage boys home
            Dairy farm is started
            Relief expands to include hundreds of families and aid for post-election Burma crisis.
