At Baan Unrak, every corner of our home tells a story of care, resilience, and love. This month, we are overjoyed to share a story of renewal — the upgrading of our Sewing Center, made possible through the generosity of NIST International School.

The fundraising was nothing short of magical. The students and their parents went beyond their usual support, raising an exceptional amount to make this dream a reality. Their commitment has brought new life to a space that holds great meaning for us, especially as Mother’s Day approaches in Thailand.

For our mothers at Baan Unrak, the Sewing Center is more than just a workplace — it is a sanctuary. Now, thanks to the renovations, they have a more comfortable and inspiring environment, complete with a new room for crafting handmade products, three new sewing machines, and a well-crafted facility for storing our materials.

Large windows now brighten the main wall, filling the space with sunlight and fresh air. During this rainy season, the improvements have made all the difference: the room remains dry and protected, no longer requiring daily clean-ups after storms.

Our shop looks beautiful with more light, thanks to the big window, which makes it more attractive. This is important for us because we need to sell our products to sustain all our programs. Every item sold is a source of pride for every mother in our workshop.

We designed this space to be child-friendly. Mothers can work while keeping their children close, adjusting their schedules to care for them without having to leave. It is a place where women can learn a skill, build a career, and shape their future — all while nurturing their children.

From the very beginning, our work at Baan Unrak has been a celebration of motherhood. We recognized that many mothers surrendered their children not because they lacked love, but because they lacked the means to survive together. Our mission has always been to change that — to give mothers the tools, confidence, and opportunities to stay united with their children. This Sewing Center stands as a living tribute to that mission, and to the powerful bond between mother and child.

Here, women are protected, supported, and empowered. The weaving and sewing work, originally designed for mothers, is now also embraced by their growing daughters (Every child in Baan Unrak cherishes and honors every mother in the home as their own). They too are learning a trade that can travel with them anywhere — a skill to earn a living and create beauty.

Our children learn not only to make garments but also to present them with pride. They discover the joy of working with their hands and the satisfaction of bringing beauty into the world in many forms. This project stimulates the mind, inspires creativity, and strengthens the spirit.

Now, with the upgraded space, the Sewing Center feels warmer, brighter, and more welcoming than ever before. And yet, this is only the beginning — we will continue to make it even more beautiful, more comfortable, and more full of life.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate not only the love between mothers and children but also the community that makes it possible for them to stay together. To NIST International School, to the students, to the parents — our heartfelt thanks. You have given our mothers more than a workspace. You have given them dignity, hope, and the chance to build a future with their children by their side.
