A New Wave of Beauty at Baan Unrak

We have been so fortunate to welcome a very special person into our Baan Unrak family.

He did not come alone—by his side were a tiny dog named Cookie and two big cats, Catthew and Scratchum.

From the very first day, they brought a wave of warmth and joy to our home. Cookie, the little dog, immediately won the hearts of the children. With his charm, he broke the ice in an instant and created an atmosphere of connection and laughter.

This new friend is not only an animal lover but also our new volunteer music teacher.

With great sensitivity and love for everyone, he has begun sharing his passion for music with our children. His presence—along with his caring personality and the irresistible Cookie has inspired everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. Now, music fills the air at Baan Unrak. The children are eager to learn, and all of us feel guided by someone who truly knows and loves his art.

As the children’s excitement grew, we launched an appeal for musical instruments.

The response was overwhelming. We received keyboards, guitars, a violin—and most amazingly, the International Pioneers School generously donated 45 violins! We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary gift. With these instruments, our dream is becoming real: every child can learn violin, guitar, and keyboard. And who knows? Perhaps one day, we may even welcome a grand piano into our home.

But our teacher’s talents do not stop with music. He has a deep love and understanding of dogs, and he has started teaching them too. With his guidance, we are embarking on a new and ambitious project: training our dogs to help protect our goats. During the day, while the goats graze, they sometimes face danger from wild dogs. Although we already have caretakers, it is not always possible to respond quickly enough. With trained dogs, we hope to provide our goats with an extra layer of safety and care.

We could already see our hopes materialize in the children’s recent performance, where their talents blossomed beautifully under the gentle guidance of Magoos, our dedicated music teacher. He inspired the teenagers to form a band and sing together, while the younger children delighted everyone by playing lovely pieces on their recorders.

This is a new chapter for Baan Unrak—a chapter filled with harmony, music, and hope. With music in our hearts and love in our community, we look forward to seeing this new wave of beauty grow and inspire us.
