Last month, Baan Unrak hosted an exciting sports and recreation program. Philanthropy Connections Foundation (PCF) generously sponsored the event. They provided high-quality sports equipment for our foundation. PCF also brought an experienced physical education teacher who previously taught sports in China to lead the training sessions.
The main goal of this program was to build strong leadership skills through sports.
Two of our own youth, Karuna and Potuya, stepped up as new recreational sports coaches.
They received special training to lead activities for the younger children. This hands-on experience helped them practice public speaking, build confidence, gain coaching skills, and learn how to guide others effectively.
Our university student Vijai, on school vacation, also returned home to join the program. They showed great leadership by managing the flow of the activities and looking after everyone.
At the same time, our Non-Formal Education (NFE) students and teachers learned new games and worked together to support Karuna and Potuya. It was wonderful to see everyone showing such amazing unity and teamwork.
This program created a welcoming and inclusive space, allowing everyone, including our little ones in the nursery, to join in the fun!
The training combined both theory and practical work. Through these energetic games, we were able to discover each child's unique potential, talents, and personal interests in sports. We can now use this valuable knowledge to help develop their athletic skills in the future.
Every day after returning home from school, the Baan Unrak children quickly gathered to join the activities and play games together. The excitement continued through the weekend, where we divided everyone into teams for full-day sports events.
The children loved the high-energy movements and cooperated beautifully. They also showed great respect to their new youth coaches. After the official sessions ended, the kids even gathered on their own to replay the games they had learned.
Since these games were completely different from their usual activities, they were incredibly excited. The children had so much fun that they are already asking us to host this program again.
