This is Vinai. He used to be a child at Baan Unrak Children's Home.
During his stay at Baan Unrak, he regarded it as his home.
He loved all the activities.
He loved our agriculture program.
Mostly he became fascinated by hip-hop dance. He even created a hip-hop group with the children of the home. His passion was incredible and motivated him to bring his group to the marketplace to perform for the public.
However, he had to leave at 17, not having yet completed his studies. He found himself in a society where he had to struggle for survival, facing endless problems and having no money or anyone to support him. Despite these challenges, he kept his love for life alive and fought tooth and nail to survive while striving to educate himself.
His love for dance and the skills he learned at Baan Unrak enabled him to find odd jobs for survival, working with village leaders and teaching young children to dance while continuing his education.
His passion for life enabled him to seek out any opportunities or courses to learn agriculture. Agriculture became another passion for him. He is motivated by high ideals and a strong desire to contribute meaningfully to life.
He seeks out all available training opportunities, often helping farmers and participating in government agricultural programs for free, driven solely by his hunger to learn more and deepen his knowledge.
His drive for life was strong, but he faced significant challenges due to his naivety and bad luck. On several occasions, he left the programs because his skills surpassed those of his trainers. The staff became jealous and ostracized him. Eventually, he decided to move on and pursue his projects.
The family was very important to him. He wanted to build a family of his own and, eventually, he found someone who was aligned with his values and dreams. Together, they created a new family. Valuing family deeply, he also helped his younger brother and reunited with his mother, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Despite all the skills he had acquired, life remained a constant struggle for survival, and he couldn’t find a peaceful environment where he could fully develop his ideas. His family of four was frequently on the move, constantly searching for new opportunities.
Finally, his journey brought him back to Baan Unrak. Although Baan Unrak already had its agricultural resources and adding him could potentially disrupt the home’s economic balance, we recognized the spark in him. Despite the risks, Baan Unrak chose to embrace the opportunity and welcomed him back.
Coming home was met with excitement and wonder. He needed to demonstrate not only his skills with plants but also his leadership abilities to guide young men and students in acquiring knowledge and performing efficiently.
Vinai has been with us for two years now, and we can say we have more Innovation and more natural beauty.
Additionally, he brought a new member to his family: a baby girl named Rose, a cute baby.
The Red Chili Project aimed to generate income for Baan Unrak through agriculture. Despite planting a large quantity and harvesting hundreds of kilograms, the venture failed due to low demand for our unpopular chili variety. This led to months of dealing with an overwhelming surplus. However, we learned to select chili varieties that suit our soil for better yields next time.
Vinai is a portrait of resilience, no matter what life must move on, no matter the struggle. His journey exemplifies the continual flow and movement of life. With him, Baan Unrak also gets revitalized, opening a door to new hope for a better future for the young generation.
