Bromsgrove Students at Baan Unrak – A Meaningful Annual Connection

Every year, we have the joy of welcoming the Bromsgrove students to Baan Unrak in Sangklaburi. It has become a meaningful annual tradition — a time to strengthen communication and relationships based on respect, care, and mutual understanding.

The Bromsgrove students are far from home while they study, and in this, they share something deep with our children. Many of our children also know the pain of not having a home in the traditional sense. There is an unspoken understanding between them. When they come together, they empower one another, discovering in each other the strength to move forward with courage and hope.

While Bromsgrove has the economic means to create a significant impact in our home and surrounding communities, the heartbeat between us is the same. We provide the ground to plow and cultivate; they provide the seeds and the materials. It is a beautiful coordination. We are grateful to each other for being able to create not only a meaningful experience, but also a meaningful economic support for those in need.

During their visit, the students serviced the children at our Tongrak school, spent time painting, renovating, and furnishing our teenage girls’ rooms — something we had only dreamed about before. They turned that dream into reality.

But their service extended even further into the wider community. They supported the installation of solar power for a village without electricity.

They provided hygiene and medical care for another village. They also assisted 30 families with essential supplies for survival.

We guided them through Sampan Rai, and the satisfaction of finally being able to make a real impact for the struggling families there was immeasurable. The happiness of the villagers was something we will never forget.

And yet, here at home, we felt that we were the ones who received the most. Yes, we received their practical support for our girls’ rooms — but we also received their time. Their evenings spent sharing together. The joy of eating good food side by side. The laughter while playing together. And in the end, the happiness of sharing our artistic talents.

We gave our laughter, our joy, and our care. They gave us what we needed. The connection was magnetic — beautiful and deeply meaningful.

We left each other with wet eyes and promises to continue this very meaningful program in the future.
