Children’s Day on the 10th of January is always a special time in Thailand. It is a day when the whole country truly shows how much it values and cherishes its children. Sangklaburi is no exception. When Children’s Day arrives, everyone wants to contribute to the happiness of the young ones.

Our children enjoyed a full day of games, competitions, and snacks at school. The celebration continued the following day, when the local community—small businesses, larger shops, and visiting supporters—organized another joyful event. The children were treated to their favorite foods and dreamed of receiving special gifts. The market was full of laughter, excitement, and color, with all our children present and fully enjoying the moment.
This year was even more special because the children were accompanied by a group of Italian friends. These Italian visitors had heard about Baan Unrak from far away—about the love, care, and family spirit shared among the children. They wanted to see it with their own eyes and experience it directly. They arrived a few days before Children’s Day, spending time at our home and discovering the beauty of Sangklaburi, its temples, and its peaceful scenery.
Alongside this beauty, they also witnessed the hardship and poverty faced by some members of the community. Moved by what they saw, they went out to help and assist where they could.
During Children’s Day, they also experienced the heart of Thai culture—how deeply children are respected and celebrated. The joy was shared not only by the children receiving gifts and care, but also by the many people who gave.
Each guest was entrusted with guiding and supporting a few children during the celebrations. However, something beautiful happened: our teenagers took their role very seriously and began caring for the guests themselves—accompanying them, guiding them, and even helping them cross the road safely. The guests, who had come to be caretakers, found themselves being lovingly cared for. They witnessed children who were disciplined, responsible, joyful, and deeply considerate.
In the streets of Sangklaburi, a rare harmony could be felt—young children with their mothers, older children guiding their guests, and everyone sharing a collective sense of contentment. It was a precious moment, difficult to find elsewhere, and truly beautiful.
After the Italian group was released by our teenagers, the guests went have lunch at the bakery, the excitement of the children continued.
A local temple had previously invited our children to perform at the final evening celebration. With only a few days to practice, the children prepared an acrobatic yoga show that amazed everyone. The performance was a great success.
We shared more unforgettable moments as we dedicated one full day to art. Our guests were present to support and encourage the children as they drew freely and joyfully. Each child created their own drawing, and when all the artworks were placed together, they formed a beautiful puzzle of many colors.
It was a rejuvenating experience, a powerful reminder of life’s living force, and a deep immersion into a vibrant field of love, connection, and shared humanity.
