Lack of Opportunity for Women
One of the greatest challenges for single mothers and women in general is the lack of opportunity in our community. This lack of opportunity leads to insufficient income to support a family and, ultimately, a decision to abandon children.
Job Skills = Opportunities = Fewer abandoned children
In 1995, Baan Unrak decided to develop a weaving project to help women develop job skills which will allow them to become self-sufficient and thus help reduce the abandonment of children.
We weave our own fabrics using traditional materials and methods. Then, we hand craft a variety of products, some with traditional designs and some updated traditional designs. We sell our products in our local shops, on the internet, and through partners around the world.
All the profits from this project support our programs.
