Hope For Women in Need
Many mothers find themselves abandoned by their husbands or widowed. This situation is worsened for migrant mothers from Burma who face the stigma of being a single mother along with ethnic discrimination, legal barriers and a general inability to integrate into Thai society. This is a toxic mix especially for a woman with little or no job skills.
Depression and a lack of options lead some single mothers to abandon their children or sell them into the sex or labor trades.

A Helping Hand
Baan Unrak provides a temporary oasis for these women. They have an opportuntiy to learn to be self sufficient, an opportunity to develop some job skills by working in one of our projects or at the home. A chance to gather themselves so they can see a way forward.
Our goal is for these women is that they develop the life skills needed to care for their families and reintegrate back into society.
