Meditation for the King

While it is common knowledge here, natives of other countries may not be aware that our king passed one year ago today.

The people of Thailand mourned the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej until October 26th, the final day of grieving during which the funeral ceremony took place.

Our children had so much reverence and love for the king, we had to make an effort to share in the ceremony at home by doing something special. We lit candles around the pillar and sang “babanam kevalam – love is all there is” and we meditated until the last candle went out.

The children who went to Rayong held their own service to show respect and admiration as well. For three hours they sang and meditated in unison; for them they had two champions in their hearts. The date was also the 27th anniversary of Baan Unrak Children’s Home and 26th anniversary of the burning of our spiritual teacher’s body.
